NoV Issued 25 June 2008
New technologies come and go.
D-Star is here to stay and the enthusiasic Dorset based team of amateurs who are constructing GB7MM are keen to play a part in its devolopment.
We've been working hard to get GB7MM on air and we are now close to being in service.
Update 7 July 2008 some on-air testing has been carried out and things are looking good!
Update 8 July 2008 Final alignment is taking place and the antenna is now at operational height. Switch-on will be at 1800 tomorrow 09 July 2008.
Keep a watch on this site for the latest news of operational status.
GB7MM was placed on air at 1800 on the 9th of July 2008 in stand-alone mode.
The GB7MM gateway is now configured and registered - it will be installed at the site in the near future.
The GB7MM gateway was insatlled on site and performed well for several weeks. Many DStar network contacts were made in the UK and around the world.
Sadly the gateway PC suffered a terminal failure and needs replacing.
Current Status - GB7MM is performing well, the gateway PC has been replaced and full connectivity is available to those users who have contributed. Donations from those who wish to use both the gateway and the RF elements of GB7MM to link to the global network are most welcome!
Gateway
GB7MM will provide gateway access to the rest of the D-Star network of connected repeaters around the globe. As an amateur repeater, all licenced amatuers are welcome to use the repeater. For access to the Gateway we ask that you join the Gateway user group by making a dontaion to the upkeep of the hardware and the ongoing Internet access costs.
Please note that this page is still under development and some links are not yet operational - check back soon as we are working hard at developing the site.
GB7MM is grateful to the organisations and individuals that have contributed to the project and have been essential to getting the Dorset D-Star repeater off the ground.
